Protect Chagos

The final countdown - it's not too late!

ChagosThanks to you we have reached over 16,500 signatures to protect Chagos. But we still need your help in order to make a Chagos no-take Marine Protected Area a reality.

We’re nearly there! There are only four days before the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office closes the Chagos consultation period (12th February).

Help us reach our goal of 20,000 signatures - ask friends and family to lend their support and sign the petition.

Sign the petition and find out more at:

Did you know?
  •  50% of the world’s coral reefs could be gone by 2050
  • 50 tonnes of open-ocean shark species are caught accidentally every year by legal fisheries in Chagos waters
  • At least 60 species listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Endangered Species are found in the Chagos Islands.
  • The Chagos is an important nesting ground for 300-700 hawksbill turtles and 400-800 green turtles, both endangered species
  • If created, the Chagos Protected area would be twice the size of the UK and would double the current global marine protection
